Dear Energy and/or International Development Enthusiasts,
Welcome back to another (or perhaps your first) year of exciting talks and events (and plenty of delicious dinner) ahead with Energy for Human Development (e4Dev)! Our official launch for e4Dev 2017-2018 will be on Monday, Sept 18 at 5:30 PM with Professor Kelsey Jack from Tufts University, but will we have a little informal sneak-peak this Wednesday, September 13, at 5:30 PM at the MITEI Conference Room (E19 - 319) featuring Dr. Ganesh Das, who heads Strategy, Business Excellence & Collaborations and Digital & Business Intelligence at Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL) in Delhi, India. Dr. Das will speak with us about the experiences of electrification in India, with specific focus on his company's experience in developing a joint venture / public-private partnership with the Government of Delhi to transform and turnaround enormous distribution challenges and rebuild consumer trust and satisfaction with the distribution company. He is a very engaging individual with excellent first-hand knowledge to share with us in a conversational and informal platform. Dinner will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis - please join us from 5:30-6:30.
All future e4Dev discussion will take place on a bi-monthly basis on Monday evenings from 5:30 - 6:30 with dinner. Again, our first talk is on Monday, Sept 18 with Professor Kelsey Jack, who will discuss her recent research on a randomized controlled trial evaluation of pre-paid metering and pay-as-you-go payment models for electricity in Cape Town, South Africa - more details to come on our exciting speaker. Stay tuned and we can't wait to head into this year of new research and talks with all of you!
