Overview

The panel will discuss integrating electric vehicles into electricity grids and electricity markets, and will include the following people:

Willett Kempton, Professor at the University of Delaware and a national expert on vehicle-to-grid (V2G) issues will share his cutting-edge research, including actual pilot projects in PJM and elsewhere in the U.S.

John Bryan is the Program Manager in Xcel Energy's Utility Innovations group overseeing their Smart Grid City project in Boulder, Colorado. This ground-breaking project includes smart meters and broadband to every house in Boulder and is already testing both V2G and renewable energy integration applications.

Watson Collins is Project Manager Enterprise Planning for Northeast Utilities.  Watson Collins is Northeast Utilities' point person for activities associated with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)/General Motors (GM) Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) program, responsible for identifying, building and shaping NU's strategic business interests associated with electric transportation.  In addition, Watson supports and drives the analytical underpinnings of NU's assessment of various Green House Gas legislative proposals and renewable generation developments.

Watson has worked in the electric utility industry for more than 24 years in a variety of roles.  Prior to his current role he led the project planning and development efforts of large scale transmission projects in the region, several of which have recently been completed.  He started his energy career as an engineer at the Millstone Nuclear Power Station.
