Lecture Series

Overview

The fusing of hydrogen nuclei is the energy source that powers stars, and therefore, the visible universe. It has been a 50 year dream to bring this energy source "down to earth". We'll explore why fusion remains a very attractive energy option for the future; and also the impediments towards making fusion energy a reality. Research highlights from the MIT and international research community will be used as examples of science and technology challenges.

Dr. Dennis Whyte is an Associate Professor at the MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center.
