Come hear from the second-in-command at the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). Dr. Henry Kelly is the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at EERE, which manages the DoE's $2.1 billion applied science, research, development, and deployment portfolio, promoting marketplace integration of renewable and environmentally sound energy technologies. Additionally, it oversees $16.8 billion in funding from the stimulus package. Before going to work at EERE, Dr. Kelly served as the President of the Federation of American Scientists, and worked for seven years in the Clinton White House as the Assistant Director for Technology for the Office of Science and Technology Policy. Dr. Kelly is an elected fellow of the American Physical Society, 2002 winner of the APS's Leo Szilard Lectureship Award for "promoting the use of physics for the benefit of society," and was named the biannual "Champion of Energy Efficiency" in 2000 by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy.
