Overview

Rachel Cleetus and John Rogers of the Union of Concerned Scientists will speak about the UCS's recent report on a clean energy economy. This report analyzes the economic and technological feasibility of meeting stringent targets for reducing global warming emissions, with a cap set at 26 percent below 2005 levels by 2020, and 56 percent below 2005 levels by 2030. To reach the 2020 and 2030 cap and carbon budget targets, the Blueprint proposes a comprehensive policy approach that combines an economy-wide cap-and-trade program with complementary policies. They will discuss the blueprint's relationship to proposed and pending climate legislation.
