In addition to its Lecture and Discussion Series, the MIT Energy Club hosts a variety of events focused on providing energy education resources to the MIT community. Below are links to MIT-wide energy class information and past Energy Club IAP course offerings (with slides).
MIT Energy Classes
MIT Energy Classes website
(An exhaustive list of energy-related classes at MIT. Note that this list may be slightly out of date. The Energy Education Task Force is currently working on revamping and updating this resource. Look for a new and more user friendly version of the site to be available before Fall Semester 2010)
Many graduate students and advanced undergraduates start their energy studies at MIT by taking "Sustainable Energy: Choosing Amongst Option" taught by Tester et. al, or "Applications of Technology in Energy and Environment" taught by Deutch and Lester. These courses provide an excellent foundation for further energy studies.
MIT Energy Education Task Force
Currently, the MIT Energy Club is a member of the Energy Education Task Force, a group of faculty and students within MITEI. The young Task Force's major accomplishment to date has been creating an undergraduate energy minor. The task force has now turned its attention to both curriculum development for new energy classes and and determining how it can best serve the graduate student community. The Energy Club has been involved, among other things, in reaching out to the graduate energy community to help assess its needs and have also contributed to the process of revamping the Energy Classes webpage.
MITEI Energy Futures Week
Energy Futures Week 2011 website
Every year MITEI, the Energy Club, and other students and student organizations collaborate to plan and provide content for a week of energy focused activites during IAP. Each year offers a distinct and equally incredible line up of lectures, workshops and activites. Check out the Energy Futures Week website for an idea of what the events were like. See something your interested in? Some of the content is available online. Other content can probably be acquired if you contact the event organizers.
IAP Energy Courses
IAP is a great time to get a taste of MIT energy-related classes.
Check offerings by category on the IAP website (here in 2011) and enjoy!
