Leadership Opportunities

Energy Leadership Opportunities

MIT has a lot to offer for students interested in energy and we are in no shortage of leadership positions to take. The breadth of activities is only limited by the willingness of students to step up and take responsibility. So anyone who is willing to develop a new activity is invited to contact us at energyclub@mit.edu.
The selection or election process of existing leadership roles is described below. Note this is only indicative as things may change slightly from one year to the next.

MIT Energy Club Executive committee

For the list of existing leadership positions, please see www.mitenergyclub.org/about-us/execom-4
The executive committee is renewed every year on June 1st. Applications are due in April for all positions. The existing executive committee elects the new co-presidents and the new co-presidents submit a slate proposal to the executive committee based on the applications.
Leadership positions may also become available or added throughout the year depending on needs.

MIT Energy Conference

The MIT Energy Conference organizing team is comprised of about 120 students selected in two rounds:
Applications for the 8-10 directors’ positions are open in April, after the Conference. The past directors team selects the new directors team by consensus and based on applications.
Applications for all remaining positions (including panel leads and other director roles) are open in September/October. The directors’ team selects the organizing team based on applications.
The Conference is held in early March.

MIT Clean Energy Prize

Managing Director(s) are selected out of past organizers by the directors’ team at the end of the competition (May).
Other leadership positions are filled at the end of the Fall semester.

Applications for the 8-10 VP positions are open in September. The past organizing team selects the new organizing team by consensus and based on applications.
Managing director(s) positions are filled in January.
The MIT Sloan EFF is held in the fall semester
